Stay with us, Lord, on our journey

Cycle A

The Transfiguration of the Lord

As they came down from the mountain, following the experience of the transfiguration, Jesus told Peter, James and John to tell no one what they had seen, until after he had risen from the dead. They obeyed “though among themselves they iscussed what 'rising from the dead' could mean".

The life of Jesus was shaped by the Law of Love rather than by love of law. But that brought him a lot of enemies and led to a criminal's death. But it did not end there; God raised him to new life. In the person of Jesus, a human being, truly one of us, is now completely, utterly, totally and everlastingly with God.

He shared our humanity so that our humanity may share in his own divinity. Our Risen Lord is with each one of us, longing for us to be one with him, inviting us to share in his own risen life, his own divine life, his glory, to be with him in his transfiguration.
